The interface consists of a simple Menu Screen which gives
the operator the ability to access the following functions: Login,
Process Monitoring, Setup Page, Operations Page, Programmable Parameters
Page, Comm Parameter Setup and other powerful InstantHMI Functions. In
addition, convenient Troubleshoot function is included.
Help provides help for all on-screen InstantHMI functionality,
detailing each action item.
Built-in Login Password Security feature allows only authorized
access to InstantHMI functions. Our new IHMISecure™ Interface
prevents unintended exit from InstantHMI or unauthorized access to any
other handheld applications. This ensures uninterrupted Data Logging or
other ongoing InstantHMI activity.
Comm Setup allows selection of IRDA or Serial Link and setting of
communications parameters such as Baud Rate, Parity, Data Bits, Stop
Bits, Unit ID etc.
Setup Page parameters help identify input/output devices
connected to the SD-controller and how the controller should function.
The OEM or system designer should normally setup most of these
parameters.
Tap on the Configuration button to access the InstantHMI
configuration functions: Save, Restore, Review and Modify. You may save
several configurations in the handheld under names of your choice and
Review any previously saved configuration and Restore it back to the
same or a different SD controller. These configuration parameters can be
easily edited (if necessary) on the review screen in InstantHMI and
restored to the same or different controller which makes controller
configuration quick and easy. |

The Home Page allows access to monitor and or modify the
parameters listed under the 'Home Page' section of the Watlow SD User's
Manual. In addition, you may tap on the Process Monitor button to
access the Process Value, Set Point and the Alarm Status for the various
outputs. The Set Point can be adjusted by units using the left up/down
Spinner controls and by decimal increments using the right up/down
Spinner controls. The Bar Graph button shows a bar graph of the
Set Point and Process values. Other items of interest may be included in
the bar graph by tapping on the Properties button.
The Operations button provides an easy way for the operator to
review/change operational parameters such as autotune, PID parameters,
alarm set points etc. InstantHMI mimics the functionality of the Watlow
SD controller and hides the irrelevant tags from the Operations
Parameters Page; this helps in keeping the Operator focussed on the
relevant parameters.
The Program Page allows you to configure your own customized
Operations Page easily. For each of the Program Page parameters P1, P2,
..., P20 tap on the I (Input) button and select 'None' or one of the
tags from the list of displayed Tag variables. This will configure a
customized Operations Page on the Watlow controller containing up to 20
variables which can be viewed on the Operations Page on the Palm. |

The Factory Page allows monitoring of Output process values
(which can be recorded on the handheld and studied in a trend graph). In
addition, important controller information such as serial number,
software version etc. can be viewed here. Tap on the Diagnostics
button to view the diagnostics screen which shows the Watlow SD Hardware
Serial Number and the Firmware version. In addition buttons are provided
to Restore Default Parameters and Factory Calibration as well as Save /
Restore User Settings.
The Troubleshoot button leads to an interactive selection of
System Components (Display, Communication, Outputs, Alarms, Control, and
Errors) and the Observed Symptoms (Indication). This displays a small
subset of Probable Causes for you to select so that you may focus on the
corresponding Corrective Actions displayed on the PDA. The InstantHMI
Desktop companion software provides a Troubleshooting Editor which can
be used to set up the Troubleshoot scheme to suit the individual end
user application requirements.
IHMI Functions button gives access to additional functionality
such as data logging, recipe management and creation of new tag
variables (such as sensor type, temperature display C or F, etc) for the
controller. Data Logging function allows you to select parameters
such as Process Temperatures, Set Points and other variables from your
Watlow controllers to be continuously stored on the handheld at selected
intervals. Logged data can be viewed on the handheld or transferred to a
PC for later analysis using Microsoft Excel.
The Exit button allows you to exit the InstantHMI application
program. You may then access other applications on the Palm through the
silk-screened Home button, Calculator button etc. |
